Full Description:
Our clients with ADD and or anxiety are dissolving. They are having tremendous troubles focusing, and feeling confident. Students are not getting work done, adults are having trouble parenting, getting through their days, and feeing competent at work and in their relationships. Worrying and avoiding seems a constant.
These clients often struggle with executive functioning and have limited executive skills. They are often overwhelmed, resulting in either avoidant or hyper-focusing behaviors to their detriment. Often they push their own and others’ limits in both directions, and all too often these clients report feeling fraudulent or like a failure.
During this training you will learn to help your clients’ build attention, and enhance their sense of competency, allowing for increased motivation and confidence, and reducing anxiety.
EMDR Resourcing when used in specific ways is very helpful. Clinicians will more deeply understand the executive function and processing complexities of clients with ADD and anxiety. New EMDR protocols designed specifically for these clients will be introduced, taught, modeled, experienced and practiced. One of the protocols builds a resourced sense of competence. The other protocol builds the attention and memory muscle, so plans can be made, and completed.
Helping clients learn to attention to their own attention and redirect their focus is an important goal of this training.
Interestingly, given the times in which we live, the trainer has found these protocol helpful for herself and many of her other clients because a sense of competence is secured and enhanced.
In this Advanced EMDR Training the following learning objectives will be taught.
You will:
1. Discuss EMDR Resourcing and how the AIP and dual attention system are used to develop positive memories
2. Discuss how emotions and states are felt in the body
3. Practice specific protocols for containing and stabilizing
4. Learn and Practice the “A Sense of Competence” Protocol
5. Examine components of Attention and Executive Functioning
6. Use an executive functioning skills guide to build a specific behavioral plan
7. Assemble an attention oriented intervention: combining AIP Resourcing, A Sense of Competence Protocol, integrated with a skill plan, aimed at executive functioning objectives.
During the workshop a variety of teaching and practicum methods will be used.
You will:
1. In the large group setting, we will experience EMDR Resourcing as we settle in.
2. Engage in learning activities via Zoom. Information will be presented in a variety of fashions: via a powerpoint presentation, modeling, group practice and discussion.
3. In groups of two you will work together, taking turns being clinician and client, practicing EMDR Resourcing protocols aimed at enhancing attention.
4. In small groups, you will have time to debrief after each practice session, so you feel supported in your work.
